Freedom from Worry Amidst the World's Turbulence

“What’s the heaviness?” I asked a client during a recent session.

The energy I saw in her field was gray, it had a weighted, dense quality.

Her response was one that many of us are feeling right now: “I’m really worried about world events.”

“Can anyone else relate?” I asked the other participants. The nod was unanimous.

It’s difficult to look at the headlines without feeling a physical tightening—a sharp contraction in your chest and a clench in your jaw. Perhaps you feel anxiety, anger, outrage, or a sense of profound helplessness.

The Cost of the "Quiet Simmer"

When events feel overwhelming, the mind starts racing. We feel small and increasingly disconnected. Feelings like frustration, depression and fear are so uncomfortable that we often try to distract ourselves - numb with food or alcohol - or simply try to "push through."

But suppressed emotions don't disappear; they just go underground. They simmer inside, unresolved, and often manifest as physical illness, relationship friction, a chronic sense of depletion or other misfortune.

Giving the Turbulence Space

In our session, I didn't ask my clients to "fix" their worry or make it go away. Instead, I helped them hold it. We created a high-integrity space to simply listen to the emotions. We moved away from the "clench" of resistance, into honoring the worry exactly as it was.

After several intentional breaths, the collective shift was palpable. They began to exhale. Tension dissolved into a steady, peaceful resonance. Their perspectives shifted from helpless to empowered:

  • “Maybe this chaos is paving the way for something better,” one shared.

  • “This galvanizes my mission of teaching my students not only academics, but empathy and compassion,” said another.

  • “I see that I’m exactly where I need to be,” whispered a third.

The Deeper Truth Beneath the Noise

Honoring their emotions helped my clients connect to their inner wisdom and recognize the deeper truth beneath the turbulence. They found joy and connection despite difficult circumstances.

Your emotions aren’t flaws to fix, they’re SIGNALS. Meeting them with attention can open previously locked doors into feeling good in your own skin and being supported by the fabric of life.

You stop "holding on for dear life" and start Owning Your Space.

A Moment for You to Exhale

As you read this, I invite you to take a slow, intentional breath.

Is there any "heaviness" sitting in your body right now? In your jaw? Your shoulders? Your heart?

I’d love to hear from you. Are you carrying any “gray energy”?

Do you have a question or a particular trigger you’d like me to address in a future post?
